Description

The superposition of a traditional green filter, an UHC filter and a Fringe Killer filter creates a green filter with a bandwidth of about 20nm (500-520nm).

The ZWO ASI 178MM reaches its peak sensitivity around this wavelength and the use of green light slightly improves telescope resolution when compared to red or IR wavelengths.

Also, the narrow bandwidth should allow an extreme limitation of the chromatic aberration of the fast achromat used for this test.

Unfortunately the moon was quite low (16 degrees, a record from my site) and hence seeing far from optimal, albeit the image "boiled" very little.

Transparency was also rather shoddy, with thin clouds.

P.S.

One other thing that came to my mind afterward is that the use of narrowband improves the imaging of targets rather low on the horizon (like this one) because it works around atmospheric dispersion.
